A study in the Journal of Radio & Audio Media indicates that the podcasting industry has witnessed a remarkable growth rate of over 25% annually in the past five years, reflecting its rising popularity and potential as a lucrative medium (Smith, 2021).

My journey mirrors this surge. Starting as a curious onlooker in the world of streaming and digital content, I soon found myself at the helm of a bustling community of over 60,000 streamers and influencers. It’s been quite the ride, filled with twists and turns and much learning about making money.

Managing a large and diverse community is like being in the middle of a bustling digital marketplace. You hear all sorts of stories, see all kinds of strategies at play, and, most importantly, you learn. You learn about what makes a podcast not just good but great. Some folks start with just a mic and a dream and end up with thousands hanging onto their every word. According to the International Journal of Digital Media & Communications, independent podcasters can attract an average listener base of 3,500 per episode within their first year (Johnson, 2020).

you are what you listen to neon sign for podcast

So here I am, ready to spill the beans on everything I’ve learned about podcasting, especially how to turn it into more than just a hobby. It’s been a wild ride, filled with experiments, successes, and, yes, a few face-palms along the way. Think of this guide as a casual chat between friends, sharing stories from the trenches of content creation.

We’re not just talking theory here; this is real, hands-on experience from someone in the thick of it. Whether you’re a podcast veteran or just starting out, I’ve got some tales and tips that just might make your journey a bit smoother.

Understanding Podcast Monetization

Podcast monetization is a multifaceted process, far more complex and rewarding than just earning a few dollars. It’s about creating a sustainable income stream that elevates your podcast from a hobby to a profitable enterprise. A report in the Journal of Marketing Research suggests that podcasts with a consistent listener base of over 1,000 can generate significant revenue through various channels, including sponsorships, advertisements, and premium content (Williams & Patel, 2022).

The first misconception to clear up is that monetizing your podcast equates to selling out. In reality, it’s about recognizing the value of your efforts and content. When I began my journey, I, too, harbored concerns that monetization might compromise the integrity of my work. However, engaging with fellow podcasters and streamers, I learned that monetization is necessary and a savvy move. It’s about earning fair compensation for the value you deliver to your audience.

Step 1. Build a Robust Podcast Audience

Before diving into the intricacies of monetizing your podcast, it’s essential to lay the groundwork by building a robust and engaged audience. A solid listener base boosts your podcast’s visibility and enhances its appeal to potential sponsors and advertisers. Here are the key requirements to grow and nurture your podcast audience:

Consistent, High-Quality Content: The cornerstone of any successful podcast is the content itself. Regularly releasing episodes that are not only engaging but also high in production quality is crucial. Your content should resonate with your target audience, addressing their interests and needs. Consistency is key – both in the quality of your episodes and in adhering to a regular publishing schedule. This consistency helps build a loyal listener base who can rely on your podcast for entertainment or information.

The Role of High-Quality Audio: In the podcasting world, sound quality is a critical factor that can captivate or lose an audience. This is exemplified by “Ursäkta,” one of Sweden’s largest podcasts, hosted by Edvin Törnblom & Johanna Nordström (Listen on Spotify). The podcast’s success is partly attributed to its exceptional audio quality, which keeps listeners engaged and coming back for more.

Epidemic Sound stands out in this context, offering an extensive library of royalty-free music and sound effects that significantly enhance the audio quality of podcasts. For podcasters, the ability to access a wide range of music and sound effects is invaluable. It allows them to create the perfect ambiance for their episodes, whether it’s energetic tunes for introductions or subtle background music to complement storytelling. Epidemic Sound’s library is comprehensive, catering to all these needs.

Epidemic Sound’s exclusive Cyber Week deal offers an incredible opportunity for podcasters: TWO MONTHS of free access to their premium content. This deal is especially beneficial for podcasters looking to enhance their audio quality and engage their audience more deeply without any initial investment. It’s an excellent opportunity for creators to step up their podcasting game and resonate more profoundly with their listeners.

Investing in the Right Equipment and Environment: The quality of your audio and the overall production value of your podcast play a significant role in its success. Investing in good-quality microphones and recording equipment is essential. Recording in a quiet, controlled environment can greatly enhance sound quality. If you’re venturing into video podcasting, a visually appealing backdrop can add a professional touch to your episodes.

Effective Promotion and Marketing: These days, creating great content isn’t enough; you must actively promote it. Utilize social media platforms to reach a wider audience, collaborate with other podcasters to tap into new listener groups, and leverage search engine optimization (SEO) to improve your podcast’s discoverability. Actively promoting your podcast across various channels can significantly expand your reach and attract new listeners.

Audience Engagement and Interaction: A podcast isn’t just a one-way communication channel; it’s a medium to build a community. Engage with your listeners through social media, respond to their emails, and maybe even host live events or Q&A sessions. This interaction makes your audience feel heard and valued and fosters a deeper connection with them. Encouraging feedback and incorporating listener suggestions into your podcast can make your audience more invested in your content, turning casual listeners into loyal fans.

Step 2. Identify The Best Income Streams

In podcasting, creating content that captivates and engages your audience is just one part of the equation. The other equally important part is how to turn that engagement into a sustainable income. This step is about identifying and leveraging your podcast’s most effective income streams. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach; what works for one podcast might not work for another. The key is to understand the unique aspects of your podcast and audience and then tailor your monetization strategies accordingly. Let’s explore some of the most successful methods I’ve used and seen others use to monetize their podcasts effectively.

symbolic-representation-of-a-podcast-generating-revenue.

Podcast Advertising

One of the most straightforward methods of podcast monetization is through podcast advertising, but it’s more nuanced than it might initially seem. It’s not just about inserting any random advertisement into your episodes. The key is to find sponsors whose products or services not only align with your podcast’s theme but also resonate with your audience’s interests. This alignment is crucial because it ensures that the ads are relevant and engaging to your listeners rather than intrusive or off-putting.

In my experience, podcasts that excel in this area don’t just stumble upon great sponsorships; they actively seek out and cultivate relationships with brands that are a good fit. This involves understanding your audience deeply – their preferences, behaviors, and values – and then identifying companies that share these attributes. Finding a sponsor that aligns well with your podcast creates a natural and seamless integration of their message into your content.

Exclusive and Premium Content

Offering exclusive content, such as bonus podcast episodes, behind-the-scenes insights, or even special interviews, can significantly change the game for podcast monetization. This approach taps into the loyalty of your most dedicated listeners, providing them with personalized and valuable content. Platforms like Apple Podcasts Subscriptions are instrumental in this strategy, allowing podcasters to set up a system for premium content delivery easily.

By creating a tiered content system, you can cater to different levels of listener engagement. For instance, casual listeners might enjoy your regular episodes, while more dedicated fans might be willing to pay for in-depth discussions, early access to episodes, or exclusive Q&A sessions. This generates additional revenue and fosters a more robust community around your podcast.

Affiliate Marketing

Adding affiliate links to your podcast is an innovative and simple way to make extra money. This means you talk about specific products or services during your show, and if your listeners buy them using your links, you get a commission. It’s a great way to earn without being too pushy or changing your podcast too much.

The key to making this work is to recommend things that fit with your podcast and what your listeners like. For example, if you have a cooking show, you might share a link to a cool kitchen gadget you use. This way, you’re not just trying to sell something; you’re giving your listeners tips on stuff that can help them.

It’s essential to be honest and open about using affiliate links. Your listeners need to trust that you’re suggesting products because you really think they’re good, not just because you want to make money. So, always choose products you believe in and tell your listeners you’ll get a commission if they buy through your link.

Courses and Webinars: Expanding Your Reach

Beyond the podcast itself, there’s a world of opportunity in educational content. Many successful podcasters leverage their expertise by creating online courses or hosting webinars. These can relate to the podcast’s theme or cover broader topics in the same niche. For instance, if your podcast is about digital marketing, you could offer a course on SEO basics or social media strategies. Webinars can also be a great way to engage with your audience in a more interactive setting, providing value while establishing yourself as an authority in your field.

Merchandising: Wear Your Brand

Merchandising is not just for big brands. Podcasters with a dedicated fan base can create and sell branded merchandise like t-shirts, hats, mugs, or stickers. This not only provides an additional income stream but also helps in building a community around your brand. Fans love to show their support, and what better way than sporting merchandise from their favorite podcast? Services like Teespring or Redbubble make it easy to design and sell your merchandise without needing upfront investment in inventory.

From Podcast to Print: Publishing Your Expertise

If you’ve established yourself as an expert in your podcast’s niche, consider writing a book. This can be an excellent way to monetize your knowledge and reach a new audience. Self-publishing platforms like Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) have made it easier than ever to publish and sell your book. Whether it’s a how-to guide, a collection of stories, or insights into your podcast’s topic, a book can significantly boost your credibility and open up new revenue streams.

Public Speaking: Taking Your Voice Beyond the Mic

Your podcasting skills can open doors to public speaking opportunities. Many organizations look for speakers who can engage and educate their audience, and as a podcaster, you’ve honed these skills. Speaking at conferences, workshops, or industry events can be a lucrative way to monetize your expertise. Plus, these events provide excellent networking opportunities and can lead to more listeners for your podcast.

Crowdfunding and Donations: Direct Support from Listeners

Platforms like Patreon have revolutionized the way creators can monetize their content. By setting up a Patreon account, you can offer exclusive content, early access to episodes, or special perks to your subscribers. This model allows your most dedicated listeners to support you directly, creating a more personal connection. Additionally, simple donation requests through platforms like PayPal or Buy Me a Coffee can also be an effective way to receive support from your audience.

Their monetization methods are seamlessly integrated, ensuring they provide value to their audience while generating revenue. This case study is a prime example for aspiring podcasters on effectively growing and monetizing a podcast in a competitive market.

Step 3. Cultivate Strong Partnerships and Collaborations

After laying the groundwork with a robust audience and identifying your primary income streams, the next pivotal step in monetizing your podcast is to cultivate strong partnerships and collaborations. This step involves reaching out and connecting with other creators, businesses, and brands in ways that can mutually benefit both parties. It’s about creating relationships that extend beyond mere financial transactions, fostering long-term collaborations that can amplify your reach, enhance your content, and open up new revenue channels. Let’s break down this step into actionable subheadings:

Networking with Other Podcasters

  • Building a Community: Networking with fellow podcasters can lead to exciting collaboration opportunities. Guest appearances, cross-promotion, or even co-hosting special episodes can introduce your podcast to new audiences and bring fresh perspectives to your content.
  • Sharing Resources and Knowledge: Collaborating with other podcasters allows for the sharing of valuable insights, tips, and resources. This could range from technical advice to marketing strategies, helping you to refine your podcast and grow your audience more effectively.
networking among podcasters

Partnering with Brands and Businesses

  • Seeking Relevant Sponsorships: Look for brands and businesses that align with your podcast’s theme and audience. A relevant sponsorship brings in revenue and adds value to your listeners, making it a win-win situation.
  • Creating Custom Content: Work with sponsors to create custom content that resonates with your audience. This could include sponsored segments, branded episodes, or even an entire series sponsored by a brand, offering unique content while monetizing your podcast.

Collaborating on Events and Promotions

  • Hosting Joint Events: Collaborate with other creators or brands to host events, such as live podcast recordings, webinars, or workshops. These events can be monetized through ticket sales, sponsorships, or exclusive content for attendees.

Participating in Promotional Campaigns: Engage in promotional campaigns with partners. This could involve contests, giveaways, or special discount codes for your listeners, creating excitement around your podcast while also providing value to your audience.

Conclusion

As we wrap up this guide on monetizing your podcast, remember that the journey is as unique as your podcast itself. From building a robust audience and identifying the best income streams to cultivating strong partnerships and collaborations, each step is a building block toward creating a sustainable and profitable podcast.

Remember, monetization is not just about making money; it’s about creating value for your listeners and partners. It’s about crafting content that resonates, engages, and connects. As you embark on or continue your podcasting journey, keep exploring new ideas, stay open to learning, and never underestimate the power of your unique voice and perspective.

Your podcast is more than just a series of episodes; it’s a platform for sharing stories, building communities, and creating impact. With passion, dedication, and the right strategies, you can turn your podcast into a thriving venture that generates income and brings immense satisfaction and success.

While there have been a number of streaming alternatives to Twitch pop-ups over the years, none have gained quite the same level of attention as Kick.

The rapid growth and popularity of a brand new streaming site brings up some fairly interesting questions, the most important probably being “Who owns kick streaming?”.

This may not seem like a huge deal on the surface, but the site has faced criticism because of connections to Stake, an online crypto-gambling site. These concerns are furthered by the favorable policies regarding gambling streams on Kick.

A few high-profile streamers don’t seem bothered by this. xQc, Amouranth, Adin Ross, Hikaru Nakmura, and others have already signed deals with Kick, and going forward we are sure to see many more.

Origin of Kick.com

In just less than a year, Kick went from not existing to signing some of the biggest names in streaming. How does a brand-new company achieve that kind of success? The answer is usually money, and with Kick that seems to be the case.

The Kick streaming site was founded in December of 2022. The legal entity required for registration as a company in Australia is Kick Streaming PTY LTD, established in November of 2022. Just a few months prior, a company by the name of Easygo Entertainment PTY LTD was registered and has been found to be the sole shareholder of Kick streaming.

Further down the rabbit hole, we find that another company, named Ashwood Holdings PTY LTD, owns one-third of Easygo Entertainment PTY LTD. Ashwood Holdings is wholly owned by Australian billionaire and Stake co-founder Ed Craven. The other two-thirds? Owned by Stake’s other co-founder, Bijan Tehrani.

So, while Kick is not directly owned or affiliated with the people who co-founded Stake, records indicate that they are the majority shareholders of the company that owns the streaming site.

The Twitch Gambling Ban

While we cannot say that Stake owns Kick directly, there are more connections to Kick and the promotion of gambling streaming.

One of the first big streamers to endorse Kick was Tyler Niknam, who streams under the name Trainwreck. Niknam was one of the most prominent gambling streamers on Twitch until their gambling stream ban in November 2022. Stake was among the gambling sites given a direct ban.

(Other online casinos were also banned, however, Twitch has decided to allow sports betting, poker, and fantasy sports as viable stream content.)

When Kick launched, Niknam was quick to jump on the site to continue with his gambling content, and some have said that he has since become a nonowner advisor for Kick.

With Kick being touted as a streaming service meant to directly compete with Twitch, as well as allowing gambling streams, signs point to Kick being designed as an alternative for streamers who want to host gambling content on their channel.

Benefits of Streaming on Kick.com

So, why join Kick? With other well-established streaming service options out there, what makes Kick better?

There are two main reasons that streamers find attractive about Kick. One is that the content allowed on the streaming site is a bit less moderated. xQc, one of the largest streamers on Twitch, even made a statement claiming that “Kick is allowing me to try and do things I haven’t been able to before.” He recently made a $100 million dollar deal with Kick to stream on their site.

The second, and probably more important to most streamers, is the revenue split offered by Kick. Twitch has a 50/50 split for most streamers, and YouTube Live has a 70/30 split. Kick, on the other hand, has a 95/5 split.

This is an incredibly high revenue split, especially for a smaller streamer. Effectively earning almost double the amount they would from Twitch means that they can turn streaming into a full-time job much easier. More money means more time and resources to create amazing content for their fans and viewers. This in turn can lead to even more subscription revenue and even better content for their growing audience.

Of course, less moderation and rules do not mean Kick is an “anything goes” type of website. Illegal activities, hate speech, as well as breaking one of the many stipulations about gambling will result in being banned.

What Does Kick’s Ownership Mean for Streamers?

What it comes down to is the question “why does it matter?”. Gambling exists as just another topic under the browse section of the site. If you don’t like that content, you don’t have to look at it. All the other popular topics are there, from gaming to just chatting.

However, while gambling may not effect the majority of content creation on Kick, the fact stands that many creators may not feel comfortable building a streaming career on a site with such close ties to a high stakes crypto casino. So, even though all they are doing is sitting down to play a game or chat with viewers, there can be a moral decision to not support gambling.

Final Thoughts

There are a lot of opinions regarding gambling content online. Many feel that things like slots and other online casinos are dodgy and not to be trusted, with a number of countries having banned sites that offer online gambling.

Even so, with the effort to get Kick running as a functional streaming alternative, as well as the millions that have spent to entice big streamers, it seems that Kick really does want to be a site for creators. Decent payouts and the ability to build your stream the way you want to, free from many of the restrictions you find on Twitch, seems like a pretty good deal.

What is Kick Streaming?

Kick is a new streaming platform made as a direct alternative to Twitch. Founded in December of 2022, many popular streamers have moved to Kick, with some big streamers even signing fairly large contracts with the new streaming service.

The Kick streaming app brought the streaming platform to mobile devices, greatly increasing the viewer base.

The streaming site is backed by the owners of Stake, an online gambling site co-founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani.

The Kick streaming site layout is very similar to Twitch and functions pretty much the same way. There is a list of channels and recommendations on the left side of the screen, with featured streams on the main page. The browse option brings up a familiar list of topics like “just chatting,” “games,” “music,” and others.

What Does This Mean for Twitch?

If the Kick streaming platform grows and continues to draw more high-level streamers, it could mean that Twitch will have to amend some of its policies that caused streamers to leave in the first place.

One change that has already taken place is that certain streamers on Twitch have been offered higher pay rates.

Is Gambling Allowed on Kick?

Unlike many other platforms, gambling is allowed on Kick, with an entire topic dedicated to gambling content. However, stated in the community guidelines is the stipulation that “gambling on Kick with other users is strictly prohibited“. The guidelines go on to say that this includes any buy-ins, sweepstakes, or lotteries.

Whether you are allowed to stream online gambling is dependent on the laws and regulations of the country you live in.

Does Kick Streaming Allow NSFW Content?

In short, yes, Kick does allow NSFW content. Activities like smoking, drinking, and gambling streams are allowed, as well as conversation topics like religion and politics. Your stream info must reflect that the content is 18+. You can set the appropriate tags in the creator dashboard when starting a new stream or during a live broadcast.

However, some things are not allowed. Explicit nudity, pornography, hate speech, and other illegal activities are not acceptable on the streaming platform and will result in a ban.

Your stream info must reflect that the content is 18+

What Makes Kick Different From Twitch?

The big difference between Kick and Twitch centers around payment. Streamers make their money from donations, ads, and subscription earnings. A portion of that is taken by the hosting platform (Twitch, YouTube, Kick, etc.), and the rest goes to the streamer.

Twitch takes 50% of subscriber revenue, and YouTube Live takes 30%. Kick, on the other hand, only takes 5%. This revenue split is attractive, especially for large streamers, as they stand to make a lot more money.

Co-founder Ed Craven has spoken at length about making sure Kick is a more creator-friendly platform, saying that large, medium, and small content creators can rediscover themselves on Kick.

A huge part of being creator friendly is allowing streamers to stream the way they want to. Many policies have gone into place on Twitch over the years that have upset streamers. Kick offers a platform with a bit less moderation to let content creators express their creativity.

Of course, certain aspects of the law still apply, like copyright infringement and other illegal activities.

Why Are Your Favorite Streamers Choosing Kick Over Twitch?

The exact reason for streamers leaving Twitch is based on the individual. For the most part, Kick offers a less restrictive environment, allowing streamers more freedom in what they stream and what they can talk about on stream.

Streamer xQc, who averages over 35k viewers daily, said in a statement regarding his move to the new platform, “Kick is allowing me to try and do things I haven’t been able to before.” In June 2023 xQc made a deal to stream on Kick for $100 million. Other popular content creators, like Adin Ross and Grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura, have decided to stream on Kick for similar reasons.

Along with greater creative freedom, the payout from channel subscription revenue is much greater. With many streamers growing frustrated with Twitch policies in recent years, it makes sense that more and more are leaving other streaming platforms and finding a home on Kick.

How Do Fans and Creators Feel About Kick?

Many streamers have found that streaming on Kick has allowed them to build a fanbase much easier than on Twitch. Due to the large amount of streams, it can be hard to gain any notoriety on other platforms, especially in the gaming community. On Kick, as the site is still growing, the environment is ripe for new streamers to gain a following.

Viewers are also able to watch streams that cater to their interests much easier. With a slightly less restrictive environment, the topics streamers can chat about are much greater.

How Much Does Kick Pay Streamers?

Kick offers 95% of subscription revenue to streamers. This unprecedented amount allows even smaller Kick streamers to make enough money to make streaming worth it.

Representatives from Kick have talked about a program set to launch sometime in the future that will pay streamers an hourly rate.

How Does This Compare With Twitch Payouts?

Twitch’s revenue split is 50/50 for most streamers. Some high-value streamers have been offered a 70/30 split, but that is not the norm for the site.

Twitch isn’t Going Anywhere Yet

Given that Twitch is an Amazon-owned platform, there is a low likelihood that it will fail due to a single new streaming site. Yes, Kick offers some great incentives to streamers, but Twitch is still the main powerhouse in the industry.

While the future of online streaming has yet to be determined, for the moment, Twitch is on top and will probably continue to be.

Conclusion

Check out Kick Streaming to see if it’s right for you. Whether you’re into games like League of Legends and Call of Duty, or you’d rather chill in a just-chatting stream, Kick has it. Of course, if you’d rather watch your favorite streamers on Twitch or YouTube Live, that’s fine too.

In the end, if you like Kick, Twitch, or any of the other options, having access to more streaming platforms to choose from is a good thing.

Recently, however, a new site has landed on the market that seems like it could put up a fight.

The post Kick vs. Twitch – Key Differences Between Streaming Platforms appeared first on StreamScheme.

This new streaming platform, Kick, has already drawn the attention of the streaming world. A number of high-profile streamers have deals with the site, and the number of streamers as well as view counts, continue to rise. Considering Kick functions very much like Twitch while offering higher monetary incentives and less moderation, this isn’t surprising.

Everything isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, however. Reports that Kick is closely connected to and funded by an online casino have some people concerned. The rise in Kick streamers with gambling content has contributed in large part to the site’s growth, raising eyebrows in the streaming community.

Below we’re going to get into the specifics of all of this and more, from why some of the biggest names in streaming have chosen Kick over Twitch to the main differences between the two streaming platforms. So, let’s get into it: Kick vs Twitch.

Understanding Twitch

Twitch is the largest and most well-known platform in the live-streaming industry. With over a decade of hosting gamers and content creators, Twitch is incredibly well-established as the go-to for streamers. Add in the fact that it is an Amazon-owned platform, and you get a powerhouse that shows no signs of slowing down.

Launched in 2011, Twitch quickly rose in popularity and helped launch the careers of many creators. Over the years, a host of third-party applications like overlays, plugins, and streaming software has effectively helped create a full industry surrounding streaming on Twitch.

Of course, massive popularity comes with stipulations. In the early days of Twitch, streamers were able to engage with their audience in ways that are definitely not allowed today. Twitch has created a set of community guidelines that enforce certain content limitations and regulations that ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Content on Twitch

While there have always been rules for streaming on Twitch, the most recent community guidelines really define the philosophy surrounding what Twitch wants on its platform. Their intro statement reads:

“Safety is the foundation beneath streamers, moderators, and everyone in the chat.”

Due to the diversity of Twitch streamers and viewers alike, the guidelines are designed to accommodate the largest amount of users possible. This means having strict rules regarding what topics, content, and language are allowed.

One of the most important details of the guidelines is that Twitch has developed customizable tools for streamers to create specific rulesets for their individual channels. These tools allow streamers to manage language settings, how viewers can share links,

Morality, age, and a number of other factors go into what is regarded as a bannable offense. Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • Self-destructive behavior
  • Sexual exploitation and other sexual activities
  • Hateful conduct like hate speech and harassment
  • Any illegal activity
  • Certain gambling, including dice games and roulette
  • Copyrighted material

These rules apply to both streamers and viewers to ensure the user experience on the platform is a positive one.

Introducing Kick

Kick streaming launched in January of 2023 as a direct competitor to Twitch. In any industry, a new platform typically takes a while to really get going, but Kick very quickly offered a lucrative deal to a number of popular streamers that helped boost the site’s user base. A few of the big names include xQc, Amouranth, Adin Ross, Hikaru Nakamura, and many others.

These streamers, and many others, find the ideology behind Kick much more appropriate for their streaming style. While Kick does have a set of guidelines that creators and other users must abide by, there is a bigger focus on free speech and freedom of content creators are allowed to broadcast compared to Twitch.

Another persuasive difference is the revenue split offered by Kick. Money from ads and subscription revenue is paid out at a 95/5 split, meaning more money goes to creators than on Twitch or YouTube. Also, unlike many other platforms, Kick offers same-day payouts in the form of cryptocurrency. For many creators, especially smaller streamers, the revenue split is an incredibly attractive benefit for streaming on Kick.

Kick offers a very similar selection of streams as Twitch, including gaming, just chatting, music, and others. The big difference is the types of gambling users are allowed to stream. Twitch allows online poker, sports betting, and other innocuous gambling types, while Kick is much more lax.

Content on Kick: The Concerns

The two biggest issues some people have with content on Kick centers around the fact that the site is less moderated than other streaming platforms. Of course, the rules and regulations include some similar guidelines to Twitch, such as no hate speech, harassment, abuse, and other illegal activities.

One example that would probably result in being banned on Twitch is when Adin Ross watched the Super Bowl live on stream. Other examples include similarly questionable content, including gambling streams and some talk show-style streams with possibly inflammatory topics.

While a streamer can get into trouble by breaking the established rules, the point of the site, stated by co-founder Ed Craven is to make sure Kick is a more creator-friendly platform, saying that large, medium, and small content creators can rediscover themselves on Kick.

Kick’s Funding and Its Implications

Most new businesses take a while to really get going, with many taking quite some time to turn a profit. Kick, however, in less than a year since its launch, was confident enough to offer some of the biggest names in streaming some very lucrative deals. Some of which were in the area of $100 million.

Where did this kind of funding come from? Reports indicate that Kick has close ties to an online gambling site called Stake. The co-founders of Stake are the sole shareholders in the company that effectively owns Kick.

So, though there is no direct evidence, it seems likely that the Stake owners, Ed Craven, and Bijan Tehrani, are heavily invested in Kick. With the fact that Kick was established to allow streamers the ability to stream gambling that is banned on Twitch, a person may conclude that the purpose of the site is to promote gambling streams.

Growing Fast: Kick’s Popularity

Given that Kick launched at the beginning other 2023, the user base has grown significantly due to the high-profile streamers that have jumped ship from Twitch. This, along with the recent release of their mobile app, has caused viewer base on Kick to skyrocket.

Streamers like Adin Ross and xQc have around 500k followers each and over 3 million combined hours watched in the past week alone.

At the moment, it looks like Kick will be able to compete with Twitch in the long term if this level of growth continues.

User Experience: Comparing Twitch and Kick

For streamers, slightly less moderation and a smaller pool of competition may be beneficial to growing a community. With more freedom and the ability to make a name for themselves,

Popular streamer xQc, who averages over 35k viewers daily, said in a statement regarding his move to the new platform, “Kick is allowing me to try and do things I haven’t been able to before.”

As Kick continues to grow, smaller streamers may find that building a community may be easier than on other sites, where they may be lost in the volume of streams available. And with the higher revenue split, making money as a small stream can be a lot easier.

For viewers, Kick will feel very similar to Twitch. While there are obviously fewer streams to choose from currently, this isn’t always a bad thing. With fewer channels, users may have an easier time finding a streamer they can connect with.

In July of 2023, Kick rolled out new functionality that would allow users who are not interested in seeing gambling streams to hide the content from view. They are aware that not everyone is okay with gambling and want to offer a way to make the site more user-friendly.

Which Platform is Better for Creators?

As stated above, the main differences between Kick and Twitch lie in the allowed content and, importantly, the pay. So, which one is better? The question is hard to answer as both sites have their positives and negatives.

Twitch is well-established and backed by a rather large, trusted global corporation. However, the 50/50 revenue split and oversaturation of channels may not be attractive to some people.

Kick, on the other hand, offers a bit more freedom and higher pay rates while (currently) having a slightly more dubious foundation.

The choice is really up to the individual and what they are looking for.

Conclusion

As you can see, the choice of whether to join Kick or Twitch isn’t completely cut and dry. If you don’t mind supporting a site that promotes gambling, then Kick may not seem like a bad option. Similarly, if reports of the way Amazon has treated their workers aren’t an issue, Twitch may be the place for you.

If you want to find out for yourself, you can easily jump into some streams of your favorite games or start your own broadcast and see where it takes you.

How to Use Music to Create a Memorable and Engaging Twitch Stream https://www.streamscheme.com/memoriable-twitch-music/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=memoriable-twitch-music Tue, 10 Oct 2023 02:01:00 +0000 https://www.streamscheme.com/?p=37875 If you have spent any time watching videos on social media platforms or live streams, you know that adding music can make your content more memorable.

Streaming music during your live broadcast is one of the best ways to maintain high user engagement. As a content creator, you will need to find music that compliments your stream content the best.

In this article, we will cover how to use music to create a memorable and engaging Twitch stream, as well as give you some options for how to add music and avoid being subject to copyright law.

How Playing Music Can Make Your Live Stream More Engaging

Successful streamers typically generate revenue through advertisements based on large audiences. Generally, more viewers equals more money, and any given stream’s entertainment value usually indicates its performance.

So, just like in other video media, the inclusion of music on Twitch streams can not only bring new viewers but engage continuing viewers.

As a Twitch streamer, streaming gameplay or chatting with viewers will be invariably enhanced, whether it’s to millions of people or just a few loyal followers.

Background Music While Playing Games

Video game streaming is among the most popular content on streaming platforms. Many creators build their entire Twitch stream around gaming and video games.

While some games often include fantastic musical scores in them, a lot of gameplay people watch does not. This type of game content often features the streamer playing the game in an incredibly focused manner, making chat interaction a little hard.

Adding background music can really enhance the gameplay in a way that is not included in the game design. For example, a video stream that only has the sound of cars racing, or characters fighting, can become a bit boring after a time. Music gives the viewer something to focus on while watching the stream content.

Chat participation

Music can be a great tool for turning regular viewers into active participants. Many Twitch viewers will sit quietly during a live stream, but catering to this behavior doesn’t help with viewer engagement, especially when live streaming to a large audience.

Because of the wide variety of music out there, individual interests vary significantly. As a streamer, you can use this to your advantage. You can create polls and conversations or ask and answer questions about your viewer’s favorite genres. This will get more viewers to interact, as a debate about the best new song can be an incredibly engaging activity.

This is just one example, but there are tons of other ways to include music in your stream. Even a small about of time spent creating content based on music will make users want to watch your stream even more.

What Music Content You Should Play On Your Twitch Streams

The type of music Twitch streamers use for their content will depend heavily on the type of stream as well as their audience. This means there is no correct answer to what will work best.

If you play music on your Twitch channel, you will react differently from your viewers than another streamer. Try out various genres to find the right music for your live broadcasts.

A streamer also needs to worry about copyrighted music. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) protects music creators and music owned by a record label. For that reason, you need to use royalty-free music.

Royalty-Free Music

Since you can’t play copyrighted music without a license, how does a streamer add music to their stream without playing copyrighted material?

There are a few resources with many options that also eliminate the need to request permission from music producers and record labels. These platforms give you the ability to share music on your streaming platform and generate a curated library your viewers will love.

Some of these streaming services allow you to purchase licensed music to add to your audio library, while others, like Twitch music, will remove the music from your VoD audio so you don’t have to worry about copyright laws.

Epidemic Sound

Epidemic Sound is a Royalty free music service that is perfect for Twitch live streams and other platforms.

Epidemic works flawlessly with any streaming software and includes music from your favorite artists, from hip hop to rock.

There are a number of different subscriptions for both commercial and personal use. For a streamer just starting out, the basic package at $15 a month ($9/month if paying for a full year). Check out their pricing to find the best personal plan for you.

A subscription with Epidemic will get you unlimited access to all of the tracks they offer for use on any social media or streaming. With access to 40,000 songs and over 90,000 sound effects, Epidemic is guaranteed to have the music you seek.

Simply search through their extensive royalty free music library to find what you need, and soon your loyal fanbase will be the envy of other streamers.

Epidemic offers a 30-day free trial that you can cancel at any time to see if their service fits the needs of your stream. Check out Epidemic and add high-quality music to your content today.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you can see the tremendous effect that music can have on your success as a Twitch streamer. Choosing the right soundtrack for your content can really help your stream rise above other creators.

Creating amazing content on your live Twitch broadcasts is incredibly easy, especially if you use one of the royalty-free playlists you can find online. Find your favorite music on Epidemic and avoid any copyright infringement problems.

So, whether you’re using Twitch as a gaming platform, a talk show, or anything else you can think of, generating meaningful audience engagement is the most important part of growth. With music being one of the staples of human socialization, almost nothing else will come close to the impact it can have on your next stream.

Nanoleaf Lines Review – A Good Investment for Streamers? https://www.streamscheme.com/nanoleaf-lines-review-a-good-investment-for-streamers/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=nanoleaf-lines-review-a-good-investment-for-streamers Fri, 29 Sep 2023 02:01:00 +0000 https://www.streamscheme.com/?p=38511 I was amazed at how my workspace was transformed by Nanoleaf lines. Whether you place them in your background to add visual elements to your stream or use them for personal inspiration, these lights have more versatility than I initially expected.

Recently, I set up and tested the Nanoleaf Lines starter kit and their Limited Edition Ultra Black Triangles. Both sets exceeded my initial expectations for the products and had me scrolling through their website to see what else they had to offer.

Nanoleaf Lines Starter Kit and Limited Edition Ultra Black Triangles

In this Nanoleaf Lines review, I’ll cover what I initially expected, the process of setting up the lines, and what I learned along the way. I’ll also cover some of the other ways you can use the product not only for your stream, but in day to day life.

Nanoleaf Lines Review – Initial Expectations and Unboxing

Nanoleaf Lines

When I first received the product, I expected it to offer visual appeal, but not give off very much light. I knew the colors and rhythms were customizable and could even be synced to music, but saw the product as more of a novelty that wouldn’t necessarily be a focal point. I had a lot to learn.

Nanoleaf Lines Unboxing

The Nanoleaf Lines came in a sturdy cardboard box and securely packaged. Inside the box, I found the following items:

  • 4 Light Lines – These are the lights that you can set up in several customizable designs. You can also add more than one set of the lines together, unlocking more options.
  • 4 Mounting Connectors and Connector Caps – Each connector cap will slip into the connectors after you arrange the lines in your designed pattern. The mounting connectors are the part of the product that will actually touch your wall.
  • 1 Controller Cap – This Controller Cap will allow you to have some manual control of the lights, though most of the product’s features are easier to manipulate on the Nanoleaf app.
  • 5 Mounting Plates and Tape – If you don’t see these sitting in the box, it is because they are already pre-attached to the mounting connectors and controller cap.
  • 1 Processor and Power Connector – This pieces will connect the lights to the power supply and is the “brain” of the product. You will also find the unique code that syncs your product to the app on this accessory.
  • 1 Power Supply – The Nanoleaf Power Supply comes in two pieces, the supply and bladed prongs that would potentially allow you to use a different electrical source in the future.
  • Instruction Manual/Info Sheet – The Nanoleaf Lines came with an instruction manual with clear pictures that show the setup process. You could also scan QR codes for more information. The information sheet provided layout options and the code to sync with the Nanoleaf app.

Nanoleaf Lines Setup Process

Setting up the Nanoleaf Lines was simpler than I initially expected.

Setting Up Nanoleaf Lines

After choosing a design, I carefully snapped each of Nanoleaf lines into the mounting connectors. With just four lights, it was easy enough to set them up on my desk instead of trying to mount them on my wall.

Snapping each of Nanoleaf lines into the mounting connectors

Once I had my desired design, I snapped in the connector caps. I also tried unsnapping the caps to see if it was possible without doing any damage, and it was fairly easy to do so even though the pieces are so secure when they are connected.

After connecting the power supply, the Nanoleaf Lines were ready to put up on the wall. I noticed that the sticky tape on the mounting plates shouldn’t really be used more than once. I wanted to make sure I likes where I placed the lights initially, so I used Scotch sticky wall mounts to initially set up the design, though I wouldn’t recommend leaving it up with any product other than the Nanoleaf sticky mounts.

Putting up Nanoleaf Lines on the wall

The product recommends holding the Nanoleaf Lines against the wall for 30 seconds to ensure that they are secure. Once it was on the wall, I was excited to check out the capabilities.

Nanoleaf Lines App Setup

It took me a while to figure out how to sync the Nanoleaf Lines with the Nanoleaf App. Finally, I found the code on both the processor accessory and the info sheet provided in the box. Once it was synced, I played around with several of the features.

The only issue I initially had is that after the initial syncing, the connection would randomly be lost and state that it was unreachable. This was fixed after I turned the WIFI on my phone off, then back on and restarted the Nanoleaf app.

Lighting up Nanoleaf Lights

The app comes with several themes that you can quickly try, just by selecting the color scheme that you want. You can also the Discover icon (the cloud) on the home screen of the app to search a broad database for more.

Nanoleaf Lines App Discover search for scenes

I typed in several descriptive words: Autumn, Halloween, Beach, Ravenclaw, etc. and found dozens of options for each. You can preview them or download them to the specific product screen so that you can quickly find it again in the future.

Search for scenes Nanoleaf Lights App or create your own scenes

You can also create your own scenes that will make these smart lights shine in specific patterns and colors. If you want to showcase your brand colors, you can set it up. In fact, each of the light bars can be set to two distinct colors simultaneously, giving you more options overall.

You can also favorite the best scenes and even create playlists.

Nanoleaf Lines Utlilty

As I stated above, when I initially opened the box, I expected to find a high-quality backlit light that would basically add a subtle glow as part of the decor. I knew that it could respond to music, but I expected that to take additional accessories or technical knowhow.

Music Mode

Instead, I found out that you can simply select the music mode and the lights will respond to whatever you are listening to in your space. It will even respond to your dog walking on the hardwood floor to greet you! I was amazed. Not only were the colors responsive, but they also changed depending on the tone and the volume of the music played.

You can even access this mode with the on-device controls.

Scheduling

You can also create custom schedules with the Nanoleaf Desktop app. As a Neurodivergent person, I find this feature very useful since I can schedule visual ques that help me keep better track of time while not being overly distracting.

Setting up softer motion scenes for later in the day also helps me remember to start slowing down and getting ready for bed. You can even find sunset dynamic scenes to really set the evening mood.

Nanoleaf Desktop App Creating Schedule

As a streamer or a content creator, you could schedule the app to turn on when your stream starts or even change colors as you move throughout the stream. Need a visual reminder when it is time to wrap up? Have them change their color or their motions 5 minutes before your log off.

Set Up Multiple Products By Room

If you have several of Nanoleaf’s products, you can actually easily sync them within the app. This smart home setup will make changing scenes across multiple setups simple, with just needing to tap one button at a time.

You Can Read By These Lights

One of the things that caught my attention within the app was a reading light mode. I wondered if you could truly read with what I had initially assumed to be low-light bars, so I took the lights into my son’s room and put them in his reading nook under his loft bed, which can be dark even in the daylight.

Nanoleaf Lights Reading Light Mode

I removed other light sources to ensure this test could be done and was amazed to find that you could, in fact, easily read with just the 4 Nanoleaf Lines in the starter kit. I also realized that you could adjust brightness throughout the day depending on your overall needs.

This also means that your investment in Nanoleaf Lines might not end if and when you choose to stop streaming. The light bars themselves have many different applications in your life.

You can also use Apple Home, Google Assistant, and Alexa to easily add more automations and connections between other compatible products.

Nanoleaf Lines and Streaming

After experimenting with the Nanoleaf lines for a few days, I discovered several features that would benefit your channel.

Nanoleaf Lines Features
  • Branding – You can easily add your brand colors to the Nanoleaf app to make light panels really drive home your brand by putting in your hex color numbers. Again, there are two light zones on each of the LED light bars so you can customize your Nanoleaf Lines to your heart’s content.
  • Generate Hype – Find light scenes that convey energy and excitement. Use them at optimal times in your stream like when you are gearing up to play games or you have a special announcement.
  • Time Management – If you want to have a set format on your stream, you can schedule your lights to change at different times in your stream. That way, you can ensure you aren’t going over and you can meet your overall goals.
  • “Quiet Que” to Family/Roommates – Do you have noisy family members or roommates that never seem to know when you are streaming? Have them look at the light bar before they ask you if you’ve purchased more toilet paper or not.
  • Stream Alerts – Whether you have a stream deck or another software, you can have your light strip flash when you get a new sub or follower.

Nanoleaf Lines Ideas Based on Niche

  • Gaming – Once you have your Nanoleaf desktop app installed, you can install the Overwolf wolf to sync in-game events for certain games. Even if you don’t use Overwolf, you can sync the desktop app to your monitor display to have the colors change to the in-game play.
  • DJ/Music – Having the Nanoleaf lines flash with the beat drop will add an extra layer of excitement to your stream, especially if you get more than one kit or sync multiple Nanoleaf products togehter in the same space.
  • Just Chatting – Choose colors based on your chatting theme and have them gradually change as you talk with your community.
  • Gameshow – Whether you set up independent light bars to count how many questions your contestant has left or you just throw and Nanoleaf lines party, you can make your on-stream game more exciting to watch for your adueince.
  • ASMR – Adding a nice glow to the background of your stream with help calm your viewers as they listen to your ASMR stream. Adding other Nanoleaf lights or using the music mode could level it up.

Sync Nanoleaf Lines With Envato Stream Deck

Nanoleaf provide two different apps within the Envato Stream Deck. After you sync your smart light with the deck (check your IP address through your WI FI settings), you’ll be able to program different key features of the app. Any music scenes or effects you created within the Nanoleaf app will show up as an option.

Syncing Nanoleaf Lines with Envato Stream Deck

Once you have set up your stream deck you will be able to quickly change to a different scene in your stream even if you haven’t pre-scheduled it ahead of time.

Nanoleaf Lines Packs and Expansions

Nanoleaf currently offers two Nanoleaf Lines type of packs and expansion kits. In this Nanoleaf Lines review, I covered the 90 Degrees Smarter Kit. Here is a little more information about what you might be able to find on the Nanoleaf website:

  • Lines 90 Degrees Smarter Kit – While my kit came with 4 lines, you can also occassionally find a starter kit that will come with 10. You can also order expansion packs that come with 3 new lines in each. That way, you can add to your current setup and still just keep one power supply. As you could see in the pictures above, this pack allows you to make lines at 90 degree angles.
  • Lines 60 Degrees Smarter Kit – The Lines 60 Degrees Smarter Kit will give you more options on how your lines connect to each other. The main difference between this pack and the previous one is that is comes with hexagonal connectors instead of square ones. This means that you can add up to six lights to a single connector, allowing to create more shapes. The Smarter Kit coems with either 9 or 15 lines and the expansion packs will give you 3 new lines. You can also purchase optional skins in matte black to give your setup a different look.

You can have up to 18 lines with one power supply, allowing you to create Nanoleaf light line art on your walls.

Conclusion

Again, I was blown away with the capabilities I’ve explored with the Nanoleaf Lines and I know that, in the last few days, I’ve only scratched the surface of what they can do. With a little creativity, you can create full-day schedules for these lights and use them beyond your streaming calendar.

I hope that this Nanoleaf Lines review has helped you answer any questions you have about the product and whether or not it will bring value to your stream and life. I have also reviewed the Nanoleaf Shapes and how their subtle glow adds to your environment. Feel free to check it out.

How Do Top Streamers Choose Their Equipment?

Due to the high-intensity usage that gaming and streaming require, most streamers will pick the best quality options on the market.

Nanoleaf Lines starter kit and their Limited Edition Ultra Black Triangles

In this Nanoleaf Shapes review, I’ll cover what I initially expected, the process of setting up the shapes panels, and more. I’ll also cover some of the other ways you can use these triangle light panels not only for your stream, but enriching your personal space overall.

Nanoleaf Shapes Review – Initial Expectations and Unboxing

There were two main expectations when I initially received the Nanoleaf Shapes. The first was that these triangular light panels would not give off much lights, especially as they were matted black. By the time I opened the box, I had already tested the Nanoleaf Lines and I presumed that my original expection was incorrect (and it is).

Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles Smarter Kit Limited Edition

My other expectation for the Shapes were due to their overall size. When I saw the packaging, I imagined that they would be about 2/3 the size that they actually were, but each side of the triangle is actually 9 inches wide (7.75 inches high).

Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles Unboxed

The Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles came in a sturdy cardboard box and securely packaged so that no damage was done. There was even packaging between the panels to help ensure they wouldn’t be scratched. Inside the box, I found the following items:

  • 9 Light Panels – These modular light panels seem very sturdy and durable and come already attached to the Mounting plates (mentioned below). As stated above, they are 9 inches wide on each side.
  • 9 Mounting Connectors – You can remove the connectors from the panels and you may need to do it a time or two when you are mounting them on the walls. They snap back into place when you put some gentle, applied pressure on the cnter of the light panels.
  • Mounting Tape – My box came with 10 strips of white mounting tape that would be applied to the back ot the mounting connectors.
  • 10 Linkers – These small black linkers will help you connec the smart lights as you mount them on the wall.
  • 1 Controller – The Controller can be connected anywhere on your design and still operate. It will allow you to control your lights in a few ways without using the Nanoleaf app.
  • 1 Power Supply – The Nanoleaf Power Supply comes in two pieces, the supply and bladed prongs that would potentially allow you to use a different electrical source in the future. The power supply also contains the processor that will connect your product to the app. You will also find a unique code that will allow you to manually sync the Nanoleaf Shapes to your app.
  • Instruction Manual/Info Sheet – The Nanoleaf Shapes came with an instruction manual with clear pictures that show the setup process. You could also scan QR codes for more information. The information sheet provided layout options (though you can also come up with your own custom layout) and the code to sync with the Nanoleaf app.
  • Screen Cloth – This was essential for cleaning of the crime scene’s worth of fingerprint that were left all over the Nanoleaf Shapes panels after I finally finished mounting them to my wall. The fact that the company included one in the box proves they thought of everything.

Nanoleaf Shapes Setup Process

After setting up the Nanoleaf Lines, I expected the Nanoleaf Shapes to be a similar process, but it wasn’t. It was a little more complicated, but you could still do it on your own without help. It is imporant to do a little pre-planning to know where you want your lights.

I would also recommend learning how the linkers work before you start installing your Nanoleaf shapes panels on the wall. You want to make sure that your wall mounted smart light bulbs are lined up correctly so that they will work properly.

Note: You only need 1 linker to link between two panels. You don’t need linkers for both places they potentially line up.

Setting Up Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles

After choosing a design, I measured the space on my wall to ensure it would fit. Then I placed the first linker on my first Nanoleaf Shapes panel and placed it in my pre-planned position using the mounting tape.

In retrospect, I should have connected the controller to the panel before this step, because I ended up having to pull the panel of the wall to add it at the end of the process. While you can snap the panels back into the mounting plates, it is somewhat tricky to line them up and find the right spot.

The product recommends holding the Nanoleaf Shapes against the wall for 30 seconds to ensure that they are secure.

Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles Unlit

When I was finished, I plugged in the Nanoleaf Shapes, but only two of the light panels lit up. I knew that this meant that the linkers weren’t connected properly and I initially tried removing the panels, then trying to “pinch” them back into the linkers, but this wasn’t effective. Instead, all I needed to do was gently apply pressure on the panels where they were connected.

The process for setting up the panels was less than half an hour, even with the minor issues I encountered.

Nanoleaf Shapes App Setup

While it took me a while to figure out how to sync the Nanoleaf Lines with the Nanoleaf App, I learned the process, so adding the Shapes was easy. I inputtted the code on the power supply into the app.

Nanoleaf Ultra Black Triangles Lit

The app comes with several themes that you can quickly try, just by selecting the color scheme that you want. You can also the Discover icon (the cloud) on the home screen of the app to search a broad database for more.

Nanoleaf Shapes App Magic Scene

You can also use the Magic Scene option and type in unique words that will create a themed light sequence for you. I tried several different options: Spooky forest, midnight stars, spring flowers. I also typed in the name of my location (a small town on the coast) and was very surprised when it created a light sequence that was similar to some of the forest and beach sequences I had previously seen.

Nanoleaf Shapes App Scene Creation

You can also create your own scenes to give you the exact accent lighting in specific patterns and colors that you wish. If you want to showcase your brand colors, you can set it up.

You can also favorite the best scenes and even create playlists for your smart lights so that you can enjoy it in different ways at different times.

Nanoleaf Shapes Utlilty

The Nanoleaf Shapes offers several fun and functional uses. Here are just a few:

Music Mode

You may have seen musical artists use Nanoleaf products in their videos. In the past, my assumption was that this took some technical knowhow to set up. As someone who is somewhat lazy and would rather not follow 30 steps even if it for something cool, I hadn’t planned on utilizing this feature.

When I found out that all you have to do is arrange panels the way you want, then select music mode, I was floored. Not only does this smart lighting dance to your music with you, but you can use it as a visual alarm when you have your headset on and your dog is trying to creep up on you.

Screen Mirror

One of my favorite features of these Nanoleaf Shapes panels is the screen mirror feature. Again, I was under the impression that this would take some tech savy, but all you need to do is download the Nanoleaf Desktop app. Log in to the same account you set up on your mobile and you won’t even have to resync the product.

Nanoleaf Shapes Screen Mirror

Under Entertainment, you will find the screen mirror feature and you can select which of your displays you want it to emulate. You can even select different modes. I find that this mode is visually appealing while I work while not being too distracting, helping me to stay more focused for longer. It also vastly changes if I choose to watch Twitch for a while, subtly reminding me to get back to work.

Scheduling

You can also create custom schedules with the Desktop app.

Nanoleaf Shapes Scheduling

As a streamer or a content creator, you could schedule the app to turn on when your stream starts or even change colors as you move throughout the stream. Need a visual reminder when it is time to wrap up? Have them change their color or their motions 5 minutes before your log off.

Set Up Multiple Products By Room

If you have several of Nanoleaf’s products, you can actually easily sync them within the app. This smart home setup will make changing scenes across multiple setups simple, with just needing to tap one button at a time.

You Can Read By These Lights

One of the things that caught my attention when setting up the ap initially was a reading light mode. While I personlly think that the Nanoleaf Lines give off a little more light as they splash off the walls, I tested reading by the Nanoleaf Shapes one evening when all of the other lights were off and was still able to read well.

Compatibility With Other Smart Home Devices

If you are tech savvy and collect smart light bulbs along with other home devices, you will be happy to know that you can add more automations with Apple Home, Google Assistant, and Alexa. The possibilities are endless.

Games and Touch Compatability

While you can set up touch interactions with your Nanoleaf Shapes, I will cover some of the inbuilt games you can play with the product. You can access these games in the Discovery section of the app.

I found that I had more success trying out the games when I downloaded first rather than in preview mode. I personally enjoyed Whack a Mole for fast action gameplay and Paint for a slower visual of the light panels changing color.

Though this may not be the first utility that most people think of when deciding whehter or not they will invest in these light panels, these simple games add another layer of excitement. They could even be used in sensory play for children.

Nanoleaf Shapes and Streaming

After experimenting with the Nanoleaf products for a few days, I discovered several features that would benefit your channel or your workspace overall.

Nanoleaf Shapes and Streaming
  • Branding – You can easily add your brand colors to the Nanoleaf app to make light panels really drive home your brand by putting in your hex color numbers. With so many panels at your disposal, you could also create a gradient and set up your display in that way. Depending on your channel logo, you could potentially arrange the panels (or multiple sets) to recreate you logo in your background.
  • Generate Hype – Find light scenes that convey energy and excitement. Use them at optimal times in your stream like when you are gearing up to play games or you have a special announcement. You can even set up precepts on your Elgato Stream Deck to make this easier.
Have them look at the light bar before they ask you if you’ve purchased more toilet paper.
  • Stream Alerts – Whether you have a stream deck or another software, you can have your smart lights flash when you get a new sub or follower.

If you use the paint game as part of your ASMR, your viewers may experience visual stimulation as well.

Sync Nanoleaf Shapes With Envato Stream Deck

Nanoleaf provide two different apps within the Envato Stream Deck. After you sync your smart light with the deck (check your IP address through your WI FI settings), you’ll be able to program different key features of the app. Any music scenes or effects you created within the Nanoleaf app will show up as an option.

Syncing Nanoleaf Shapes with Envato Stream Deck

Once you have set up your stream deck you will be able to quickly change to a different scene in your stream even if you haven’t pre-scheduled it ahead of time.

Nanoleaf Shapes Packs and Expansions

Nanoleaf currently offers several Shapes packs that are compatible together (as long as they are within the Shapes line – Triangles, Mini Triangles, and Hexagons). In this Nanoleaf Shapes review, I covered the Limited Edition Ultra Black Triangles.

Here is a little more information about what you might be able to find on the Nanoleaf website:

Gaming Setup with Nanoleaf Shapes
  • Shapes Limited Edition Ultra Black – This is the product I tested and I personally love it. Even when I don’t use the lights, I can enjoy the silhouette of the panels against the wall with no glare from any other lights that may be on within the room. If 9 panels isn’t enough for you, you can purchase the Ultra Black Triangles Expansion kit to get 3 additional panels.
  • Limited Edition Ultra Black Hexagons Smarter Kit – This smarter kit is similar to the one I tested, but comes with hexagons instead of triangles. The product comes with 9 hexagon modular light panels and a power supply that you can customize into different shapes on your wall. You can also purchase a three panel expansion pack if you want more than 9 hexagons.
  • Shapes Triangles and Mini Triangles Smarter Kit – If you like the idea of combining the larger and smaller panels together, this is the perfect option for you. While these light panels are white instead of the matte blackj that I tried out, you will receive 17 different panels that you can creatively arrange. If you want additional panels, you can purchase any of the expansion packs within the shapes line.
  • Shapes Hexagons Smarter Kit – This kit comes with 7 Hexagons that you can can place on the wall with the provided sticky pads. You can also get expansion packs of either 3 or 25 panels that you can add to create a dazzling light display.
  • Shapes Mini Panels Smarter Kit – In retrospect, I think that these may have been the light panels I’ve seen in the past as they are a fraction of the size of the panels I received (4.5 inches wide on each side and 3.8 inches across). While I’m pleased with the panels I have, if you are looking for smaller smart lights that you can arrange in a smaller space or want more design elements with more lights, these would be a good fit. Expansion packs are also available.

You can also purchase more linkers, sticky pads and other accessories that will ensure tha tyou can use your lights in the future even if something is damaged or lost.

Conclusion

I am addicted to my new Nanoleaf lights and explored their website looking for new ideas and other shapes. I have frequenltly changed the scenees on the lights throughout the day depending on my mood or what I’m doing and I’ve found that they have made a difference in my overall workspace.

I hope that this Nanoleaf Shapes review has helped you answer any questions you have about the product and whether or not it will bring value to your activies. I have also reviewed the Nanoleaf Lines and that product’s capabilities. Feel free to check it out.

Why Music is a Must-Have for Successful Twitch Streams https://www.streamscheme.com/music-must-have-twitch-streams/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=music-must-have-twitch-streams Wed, 09 Aug 2023 02:00:28 +0000 https://www.streamscheme.com/?p=37824 Music has been a huge part of essentially all of human history. From songs of celebration and worship in ancient cultures to the early symphonies of modern civilization, the country music of the wild west to today's worldwide streaming services, music has shaped society in a multitude of ways. So it should come as no surprise that including music content in your live stream is practically a necessity.

The post Why Music is a Must-Have for Successful Twitch Streams appeared first on StreamScheme.

]]>
In this article, we will cover why music is a must-have for successful Twitch streams, as well as a few ways to enhance your live video streaming with the best music services available on the internet.

The Importance of Music In Content

Many people have music playing at almost any given point in their daily lives, such as doing chores around the house or hanging with friends by the pool. Often you’ll see people wearing headphones while running or working out. And these examples don’t even include going to live gigs or someone playing guitar around a campfire.

Music is an important part of just about everything we do, and streaming is no exception. A Twitch stream can produce amazing content but still feel a bit stale and boring without the inclusion of music. Some studies have shown that adding background music can even increase a viewer’s concentration while watching your content.

The type of music you use on your stream is also pretty important. Of course, if your stream is focused around live music performances, you’ve effectively solved the issue of music choice as your audience is there to listen to the original music of the performing artists.

However, if your stream is focused on something like gaming, you will want to add music to help keep your audience engaged. This is where music choice comes into play. As a new streamer, your music will set the tone for new viewers. The music you play will develop what kind of fan base you attract.

How to Play Music To Enrich Your Live Stream

As mentioned above, your music choice will dramatically affect the growth of your Twitch Channel. If you build an audience around your choice of electronic music and suddenly switch to rock or hip-hop, you may find that your number of viewers will decrease.

A great way to avoid this problem is to let your viewers request songs. This will both ensure that they enjoy the music being played, as well as increase engagement and make them feel more connected to your stream. Ultimately, creating amazing content comes down to playing the right music for your stream rather than your favorite music.

Royalty-Free Music

If you choose to stream music on Twitch, you will need to be careful about playing copyrighted music. Over the years, musicians and music producers have been careful to protect the music they own with laws such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The DMCA essentially makes many options for streaming music, like YouTube or your own collection, susceptible to copyright infringement lawsuits from someone in the music industry.

There are a few great options for Twitch royalty-free music out there. These services will require an internet connection and possibly a subscription fee to use, but this is far better than dealing with legal action.

Epidemic Sound

Epidemic Sound is a Royalty free music service that is perfect for live video streaming on Twitch and other platforms.

617bf577 c508 40e3 8909 3d7d4120684d

There are a number of different subscriptions for both personal and commercial use. The basic package at $15 a month ($9/month if paying for a full year).

An Epidemic subscription will give you unlimited access to all of the tracks they offer for use on any social media or streaming. With access to 40,000 songs and over 90,000 effects, Epidemic is guaranteed to have the music you are looking for.

Simply search through their extensive library to find what you need, and soon your loyal fanbase will be the envy of other streamers.

Epidemic offers a 30-day free trial that you can cancel at any time to see if their service fits the needs of your stream content.

Conclusion

Of course, music is really only a part of the battle when trying to create a successful stream. You’ll need a good camera and a good connection to the internet for your content to be enjoyable, but an awesome soundtrack for your chat room to enjoy is a great start.

Making use of the cost-effective options for royalty-free music can help you to start growing and raking in that ad revenue.

So, what are you waiting for? Hop on your favorite streaming platform and start building a community that can take you to one of the most popular channels in the world!

How to Join a Streamer House https://www.streamscheme.com/join-a-streamer-house/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=join-a-streamer-house Fri, 14 Jul 2023 02:01:00 +0000 https://www.streamscheme.com/?p=37991 In the past few years, streaming has risen in popularity at an alarming rate. And honestly, it makes sense. People want to be famous, and there has been practically nothing else a regular person can do to become well-known so quickly.

The post How to Join a Streamer House appeared first on StreamScheme.

]]>
But what’s the best way to get started? How can someone gain the notoriety they need to be a successful streamer?

One great way to build a following to is join a streamer house. If this seems like something you want to do to really kick-start your streaming career, keep reading to learn everything you need to know.

From what a streamer house is and how to join one to the benefits that entering a streamer house can have on your career, this article will answer the questions you have.

What is a Streamer House?

A streamer house is a place where a group of streamers live, creating content and growing their streams. They often stream for many hours a day (and night), giving viewers an intimate view of their lives. Common spaces like the living room and kitchen may be set up for full-time streaming, allowing streamers to create content for fans to watch and enjoy constantly.

Typically the streamers will have something in common that they can use to draw viewers in. Getting people interested in watching the live feed from a streamer house is much easier with a hook. This will give the house’s live streaming some brand identity.

How streamers interact in a streamer house is very important for building an audience. The members of the house basically build off each other, either through streaming related topics, co-streaming a new project, or participating in each other streams.

Streamer interaction also comes into play when friends or guests are invited over. A larger gathering can be the basis for a cool streamed event.

A streamer house that can maintain a good connection between the streamers will create more quality content and will have a distinct advantage over another streamer team that can’t coexist as well.

Where to Find A Streamer House

The popularity of streaming house content has grown recently and will probably get even more popular in the future. This has created an environment where streamer house teams are regularly put together.

Communities

When looking for a streamer house, try to find one that fits your personality. Getting along with your fellow streamers is essential to the team’s success. Check for listings on popular forums and sites that are based on the content you create.

Other Streamers

Joining or starting a streamer house is usually done through connections with other streamers. Make friends in the streaming community and ask for information about streamer houses looking for new members for their team.

Location

If you are flexible about where the house is located, you will have more options when looking for a streamer house. While a streamer house can technically be almost anywhere worldwide, it’s best to look for listings in popular areas for streamers to live. Usually, this means major cities where content creators have access to brands, followers, and events.

Requirements to Join a Streamer House

The requirements to join a specific streamer house will vary based on the content the streamers produce. For example, a house built around gaming may require streamers to play games together.

Joining a streamer house is effectively the same as going into business with these other streamers. An interview to join will be similar to a job interview at a company. When meeting with a potential group, be clear about your streaming background and goals. Ask about any specific details you may be required to follow.

Often streamer houses will get support from companies to help fund their live streaming through ads and other compensation. These businesses will have their own idea about the content they support and want to protect that brand identity.

Some streamer houses may also have a contract with a specific streaming platform. This will require you to stream only on that site. If you have spent time building a following on Twitch TV and now can only stream on YouTube, making that switch can be a little hard.

In the end, while a streamer house may want to add new faces to their team lineup, it is best to go with popular up-and-coming streamers rather than someone new. So the hardest-to-fill requirement to join may be an applicant reaching a decent level of notoriety before they even consider them.

Benefits of Being in a Streamer House

The benefits can be enormous if you can find a streamer house that works for you. The increase in reach by having other streamers interacting with your live stream and more people to create with can really increase the viewers for your stream and video content.

Collaboration

Other streamers may also have amazing ideas that can help increase the quality of the content on your channel as well. Asking for feedback on the best way to edit a particular video or some other technical aspects can help you learn techniques you otherwise wouldn’t have figured out independently.

Environment

Having the backing of a larger company can also offer some great perks. One of the most prominent features is obviously having a stable place to broadcast from. Having access to guaranteed internet access and housemates who know you will be streaming can be incredibly beneficial. This environment is much more conducive to streaming than other living situations.

Monetization

Another huge reason to join a streamer house is the possibility of more stable pay. The internet’s attention span is often limited and can lead to your personal channel sometimes not getting the views you need. But the backing of a brand, along with the support of the house streaming channel, can make income less of a worry.

Well-Known Streamer Houses

There are quite a few smaller streaming houses out there. Some of these include very popular streamers, like xQc, who used to live in a streamer house based in Texas.

However, few have made it to a level of popularity that their house channel has become as well known as the individuals who are a part of it.

Below are two of the most influential streaming houses to exist.

Offline TV

Easily the most successful streamer house to date. Founded by popular streamers Scarra and Pokimane in 2017, today, the team includes such names as Disguised Toast, LilyPichu, and YouTuber Michael Reeves.

Offline TV has over 3 million subscribers on their YouTube page, and their Twitter account has almost 1 million followers.

Their continued success is due to their variety of content and uploads nearly once a week. Much like other streaming houses, many members join and leave over time, which keeps content fresh.

StreamerHouse

The story of StreamerHouse is one of the internet’s most exciting tales. The idea behind StreamerHouse was to have a live stream constantly going, cycling members out throughout the day and night to create a never-ending stream of content.

This is the oldest and longest-running stream in the industry. Initially launched in the summer of 2013, StreamerHouse reached its highest levels of popularity during GTA 5 and continues to broadcast content from various games.

StreamerHouse has been live streaming for almost 3500 days since spring 2023 and shows no signs of stopping.

Conclusion

Streamer houses can be an incredible way to realize the potential of your streaming career fully. Successful live streaming is all about broadening your reach, and while interacting with chat and self-promotion will help, sometimes it’s not enough. Your big break may merely be a matter of support from other like-minded individuals.

So, if joining a streamer house seems like a good choice, look around for recruiting houses and contact them with information detailing what you can offer to the team. And while you may have to wait a while to find the right fit for you, hopefully, a tip or two from this article will help you find what you are looking for.
